➡️ Spell out U.S. state names in the body copy. #marketing #APstyle
AP style calls for spelling out the names of the 50 U.S. states in the body of a story, whether standing alone or in conjunction with a city, town, village or military base. This helps with clarity, as not every reader will readily know state abbreviations. Many writers and editors had to memorize AP's state abbreviations in school, but did your readers do the same?

It doesn’t matter if they’re Christians in Nigeria or not. It only matters that they’re people being killed. Human beings. Do you get that? I hope so because the U.S. media, White House and Congress don’t. @apstyle #fail #usa

Livable. I have often expressed my dislike for this term in relation to ALS, especially when more promising and hopeful alternatives exist. We should choose our words more thoughtfully instead of relying on this overused expression. P.S. For those who defend the use of this word, I challenge you, as @alsadvocacy did, to define it. #TREASURE #thursdayvibe #makesmecranky #APStyle #chooseyourwords #bewise 📰
When you hear someone refer to making ALS "livable," please ask for the definition of "livable."

🚫tasered 🚫tased If you write about Tasers, here’s what the @APStylebook says: Taser is the trademark name for the energy weapon manufactured by @axon_enterprise.   Don't use tasered or tased. Instead, refer to someone being shocked with a #Taser. #APstyle

A team losing a game is not a "disaster." Home runs are homers, not "dingers," "jacks" or "bombs." A player scored 10 straight points, not 10 "unanswered" points. If a football team scores two touchdowns and the opponent doesn't come back, say it "never trailed" rather than "never looked back." In short, avoid hackneyed words and phrases, redundancies and exaggerations.
