Subject: Urgent Complaint Regarding Unauthorized Flights Over Somaliland’s Airspace and Associated Risks to Passenger Safety
To Whom It May Concern,
We, at Geopolitics Africa TV, on behalf of the people of the Republic of Somaliland, issue this urgent complaint regarding repeated violations of Somaliland’s sovereign airspace by unauthorized aircrafts—specifically:
• Flights inbound and outbound to Somalia’s capital, Mogadishu;
• Djibouti Airways flights violating Somaliland airspace;
• Turkish Airlines flights entering without clearance;
• Chinese military aircraft operating to and from Somalia and Djibouti;
• Ethiopian Airlines flights to Mogadishu and other Somali destinations.
- Qatar Airways Inbound and Outbound to 🇸🇴 capital Mogadishu
None of these aircrafts have obtained formal authorization from the Somaliland Civil Aviation Authority (@CAAA_SL).
These violations:
• Pose a severe risk to passenger safety, as they are flying in an
uncoordinated and unauthorized airspace;
• Undermine international aviation safety standards;
• Ignore Somaliland’s sovereign jurisdiction, which has independently managed its skies since 1991.
We therefore urgently call upon:
1. @ICAO, @IATA, and @EASA to acknowledge and enforce Somaliland’s airspace management authority;
2. International insurance companies such as @LloydsofLondon, @AXAXL, @Allianz, @AIGinsurance, @MunichRe to reconsider underwriting coverage for flights breaching Somaliland airspace without authorization;
3. All airlines, especially those flying to Mogadishu or Djibouti, to halt operations over Somaliland until full authorization is received from @CAAA_SL.
Flying unauthorized over Somaliland is not only an act of disrespect to our sovereignty, but an avoidable safety risk that must be taken seriously by international bodies and aviation stakeholders.
Kind regards,
Geopolitics Africa TV
