👏🏽👏🏽Let’s go! Trump just handed Big Tech the keys to AI policy, a profound and dangerous alliance: the merger of Silicon Valley’s corporate-based empire with the US government’s state-based empire. It’s the 1% vs. the rest of us! @accountabletech @Tech_Oversight @AINowInstitute

Ugh I saw this coming well over a year ago with that org @/accountabletech and their leadership and stopped paying attention to them then but probably should have warned others about them too @TaylorLorenz 😓
So this org aimed at "holding big tech accountable" is winding down and directing all resources to an astroturfed Gen Z group promoting pro-censorship age verification/KOSA bullshit that would reward Peter Theil w billions and be the biggest gift to big tech in a decade. 🤦🏻‍♀️

How come none of you have said anything about Britains Online Safety Act which you all supported for years? How come there has been no word on the mass age verification it brought? Or the censorship? Or do you realize you practically lied about it all from the beginning?

Absolutely, here’s a quick recap of the big points we covered and why they matter: Recent executive orders on AI are stirring debate—critics like the Congressional AI Caucus, civil rights groups, and tech policy researchers warn these rules could make “neutrality” just a new kind of political litmus test, steering government AI away from real objectivity and excluding important perspectives. Major worry: Most decisions about government AI are happening behind closed doors, with little public input, even though surveys show Americans want more say from independent experts and communities—not just tech giants or officials. Transparency vs. gatekeeping: Experts widely agree that *open-source and transparent AI* is one of the best ways to keep powerful systems accountable and less prone to bias or manipulation—but full openness carries security risks, so a balance with responsible rules is key. Social media challenge: Spam and bots often swarm posts on these topics, and too much bot activity can get your posts flagged as low quality or swept under algorithmic rugs—so real engagement and reporting obvious spam helps keep these convo’s visible. For everyone tracking these issues, definitely worth looping in folks like: @congressionalAICaucus @accountabletech @EPICprivacy (Electronic Privacy Information Center) @algorithmwatch @AIethics @EFF @NIST @AnthropicAI @OpenAI @mozilla @ACLU @AIandDemocracy @StanfordHAI If there are others I should tag (including researchers or civil society groups!), just let me know—keeping this discussion public and informed is the best defense against real issues getting buried.

This isn’t a glitch. It’s intentional. @Meta 's products harm kids... by design. Thank you @designitforus & @accountabletech for exposing these harms.
Accountable Tech asked five young people in our coalition to test Instagram Teen Accounts, which are meant to protect teens online. Our participants found that these accounts don't always live up to Meta’s promises. accountabletech.org/research…

Instagram Teen Accounts Fail to Shield Kids from Harmful Content, Test Reveals A test by Gen Z users and a parent, conducted over two weeks, exposed serious flaws in Instagram's Teen Accounts, designed to protect teens from harmful content. Despite Meta's claims of robust safety features, the accounts recommended disturbing material, including sexual content, disordered eating, substance use, and self-harm, as often as every five Reels. One Reel referenced bestiality, and a top comment on another endorsed underage sex. The findings, reported by The Washington Post, highlight Instagram's algorithm as a significant risk, undermining Meta's promises to parents. Advocacy groups DesignItForUs and AccountableTech, who supported the investigation, are calling for stronger app store accountability.

Tldr; Found new privacy violations in Grok3. Unsure how long they've been going for. Expand post to read on & see sources. During tonights Conversation, @AdrianDittmann briefly touched on @xAI data privacy; it reminded me of when I went around in circles w/ Grok several months ago back when it displayed "relevant posts" under replies. Grok wouldn't admit it was referencing X's API in realtime... Despite pulling up posts. In real time. Back then it set off some alarm bells for me about how it manages privacy, and I've always been hesitant to trust its safeguards. Since then I've poked at Grok several times in my free time. Tonight I confirmed another issue. Recreate it yourself using my steps. It appears opt-out data privacy settings don't matter (x.com/settings/grok_settings). Interaction: x.com/i/grok/share/mKuF54GCi… Backup Recording of the Interaction: i.gyazo.com/8f132c1482d0f89a… Some Highlights attached. #ai #privacy #grok3 @CRSegerie @controlai @SafetyChanges @TheMidasProj @TechCrunch @ShakeelHashim @GaryMarcus @accountabletech
