Igebu:Vers l’actualisation des prévisions basées sur les impacts Sous le ministère en charge de l'environnement, l'Igebu a clôturé un atelier de 3 jours du lancement du projet wiser ActionFirst portant sur les previsions basées sur les impacts Ce projet vise à renforcer les capacités des services climatiques ainsi que celles des différentes parties prenantes dans l’utilisation des prévisions basées sur les impacts, afin de transformer les informations météorologiques et climatiques en actions anticipatives concrètes. Des informations accompagnées de mesures préventives Le Directeur de l’hydrométéorologie, Babonwanayo Déogratias, a indiqué qu’avec ce nouveau projet, les informations météorologiques diffusées seront désormais accompagnées de mesures, de comportements et d’actions à adopter pour faire face aux conséquences négatives pouvant résulter des conditions météorologiques annoncées. Selon lui, cette nouvelle approche permettra aux utilisateurs des données climatiques de mieux anticiper les risques et de prendre des décisions adaptées avant la survenue des catastrophes. Il a précisé que cette approche exige également que les différents secteurs souvent touchés par les changements climatiques, notamment l’agriculture et l’élevage, la prévention des catastrophes, l’environnement ainsi que d’autres secteurs concernés, puissent identifier les risques et les impacts négatifs susceptibles de survenir. L’objectif est de renforcer la collaboration entre les différents intervenants afin d’améliorer la prévention et la gestion des risques climatiques. Le manque d’équipements reste un défi Malgré ces avancées, le Directeur de l’hydrométéorologie a souligné que le manque d’équipements demeure un défi majeur. Certaines régions du pays ont encore besoin d’appareils modernes et performants, afin d’assurer une meilleure collecte des données météorologiques. Que ce soit au niveau du Gouvernement ou des partenaires de l’IGEBU, l’acquisition de ces équipements figure parmi les principales priorités. À l’issue des formations, les participants ont demandé que le projet soutienne davantage l’IGEBU dans l’obtention des équipements nécessaires. Il a également été rappelé que la population, après avoir reçu les informations météorologiques, doit prendre des mesures de prévention afin de se protéger contre les risques et catastrophes liés aux mauvaises conditions climatiques.
