The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) is likely to approve the procurement of around 2,000 Active Protection Systems (APS) for the Indian Army in a deal worth approximately ₹5,000 crore. These systems are designed to detect, track, and destroy incoming anti-tank missiles and rocket threats before impact, significantly improving battlefield survivability. The acquisition forms part of the Army’s ongoing modernization efforts to strengthen the protection of its armored fleet. APS is expected to be integrated with frontline tanks and other armored platforms operating in high-threat environments. The approval would mark a major step toward enhancing India’s armored warfare capabilities and boosting indigenous defence manufacturing.
