This observation is based on the Speedtest Ookla 2023 H1 data – speedtest.net/ookla-5g-map-, which reveals that several markets in the Asia Pacific region have achieved significantly faster median download performance compared to the top five European economies. Notably, Malaysia and South Korea have taken the lead in this race, boasting impressive speeds of over 500 Mbps. Malaysia has demonstrated a remarkable median download performance of 512.10 Mbps, while South Korea achieved an equally impressive 503.99 Mbps. What sets Malaysia apart is its noteworthy feat of catching up to South Korea's performance, despite launching 5G three and a half years later.
