Canada once inspired the world to invest in global aid, and now we don’t even meet the bare minimum. Less than a penny on the dollar… and it’s still being cut. We used to lead. What happened? #AidWorks

Thank you to @SenCoyle for highlighting the importance of Canada's engagement in Africa, including how we support literacy and education systems as part of long-term development. As Canada considers its response to “Canada-Africa: Seizing a Strategic Opportunity” and works toward implementing its Africa Strategy, literacy must be part of the conversation. #AidWorks

We asked Canadians how much of every $100 Canada gives to poorer countries. People were surprised by the answers. Foreign aid isn’t a handout. It’s a Canadian value. 🌍 Join the #AidWorks movement and get involved. Link in bio.

In Tanzania, national data shows that 61% of students aged 10–14 struggle to read a simple text. But in CODE-supported schools, 84% of Grade 3 students can read and comprehend grade-level material, a powerful shift. This #IDW2026, we celebrate what’s possible when educators are supported, classrooms are resourced, and every child is given the chance to become a reader. #AidWorks #LiteracyMatters

On #InternationalDayOfEducation, we’re reminded that education is more than a right, it’s the foundation for possibility, progress, and equity. At CODE, we believe every child deserves the chance to learn, grow, and thrive. That belief shines through in the story of Thokozani, a student from Malawi whose journey is featured in our iHeard Project, an initiative promoting youth engagement and elevating girls and young women as agents of change. With support from her community and access to quality education, Thokozani is building the skills and confidence to shape her future. A special thank you to all of our iHeard partners: @fawe_malawi @farmradio @FarmRadioMw @girleffect @ViamoGlobal @MSIchoices @BanjaLaMtsogolo @maikhanda #AidWorks #LiteracyMatters #GlobalEducation #EducationForAll #Malawi #FoundationalLearning

🇺🇦🤝🇫🇷 Ukraine and France sign a new defence cooperation declaration Today, President Zelenskyy @ZelenskyyUa and President Emmanuel Macron @EmmanuelMacron signed a Declaration of Intent strengthening defence cooperation between Ukraine and France. The document outlines France’s support for Ukraine in acquiring advanced French defence equipment — a step that reinforces Ukraine’s air defence, artillery, and technological resilience. This agreement is another milestone in the long-term security commitments made by France and a clear signal: 🇪🇺Europe stands united with Ukraine. #StandWithUkraine #UkraineFrance #DefenceSupport #UkraineSupport #AidWorks

At the #G7 foreign ministers’ meeting, Minister @AnitaAnandMP spoke proudly about Canada's aid spending and leadership 🌍 We agree, this is something to be proud of! However, as @neilrmoss reports in @TheHillTimes, these statements come hot on the heels of recent cuts to Canadian aid at a time when the need for peace, global stability, and saving lives is ever-increasing 🫤 Canada must walk the talk and do the right and smart thing by continuing to be a leader in international assistance. We can start with @MarkJCarney announcing a strong commitment to the @GlobalFund at the Replenishment Summit in only 7 days in Johannesburg 🇿🇦 We ARE a global leader in investments that benefit the world and Canadians. Others look to us and we must live up to this reputation and invest in a better world for all. hilltimes.com/story/2025/11/… #cdnpoli #AidWorks @randeepssarai @YasirNaqviCDN

As we await tomorrow's #Budget2025, we join @DGlenwright from @SaveChildrenCan in urging the government and people in Canada to support the protection of our international assistance budget. With the current state of the world, hundreds of millions of people need ‒ and will need ‒ urgent humanitarian aid. Not to mention the continuing and crucial need to invest in disease prevention, nutrition, and education to build a more stable, secure world. One where Canada can build new allies and trade partners, prevent deadly pandemics from reaching our shores, and avoid global economic turmoil. What's best for all is best for us. We hope to see zero cuts to Official Development Assistance tomorrow. #AidWorks #cdnpoli @MarkJCarney @FP_Champagne @AnitaAnandMP @randeepssarai @YasirNaqviCDN
From Gaza to Sudan, Ukraine to Yemen — the world is at a breaking point. 300M people needed urgent aid last year, yet half were left behind. As crises deepen, Canada must lead with solidarity, human rights & global stability. ODA isn’t charity — it’s strategy for peace & prosperity. #CanadaBudget #ODA #GlobalLeadership #Budget2025 @DGlenwright

No fighter jet ever built a school or stopped a famine. Foreign aid does. In the next Budget, Canada must defend what truly makes us strong: our values and commitments to the world. #Budget2025 #AidWorks
