One of the key pieces, the ‘Infinity’ dress, was developed in close collaboration with Howe. Digitally modeled in 3DS Max and rendered with Octane, the structure was laser-cut from stainless steel, then assembled by hand over four months. Hundreds of welded wings rotate around a central axis, mounted onto a corseted base made from fiberglass and epoxy. As the feathers catch the wind, the dress moves in continuous rotation, a kinetic system in motion. The result is part sculpture, part wearable architecture, capturing van Herpen’s ongoing dialogue between technology, nature, and the human form.
