A face-swapping illusion can unlock childhood memories 顔入れ替えの錯覚が小児期の記憶を呼び覚ます 神経科学者は、若く感じることが初期の自伝的エピソード記憶へのアクセスを高めるかを調べた。 オンラインで健康な成人50人が、自分の顔のライブ映像を見ながら頭を左右に動かした。 半数は加工なし、残り半数は子どものように若返らせたフィルター画像で、動きが同期することで一時的に「自分の顔だ」という錯覚（エンフェイスメント）を生じた。 その後、参加者は小児期と最近の出来事を詳しく語り、構造化面接と条件を知らない評価者が採点した。 若い顔を「所有」した人は小児期の記憶だけがより鮮明になり、感覚、場所、感情の細部が増えた。 最近の記憶は変わらず、記憶が年齢ごとの身体表象に結び付く可能性を示す。 A simple face-filter illusion made adults feel they were looking at a younger self. In 50 online participants, embodying the childlike face led to richer descriptions of childhood events—more places, sensations and emotions—while recent memories stayed the same.
