Global First: 12 Baer’s Pochards Released into Wild in China
Twelve critically endangered Baer’s pochards were released into Hengshui Lake on April 2 — a global first. Bred through a natural rewilding project, the birds mark a milestone in species recovery. China’s Baer’s pochard population has grown from about 1,000 in 2012 to 2,555 today, experts said. (Photo/ Chen Kang)
