It was personal for me after my mum died, as I explained in my letter to them. She was Miss Bootle 1965. She hated football but was always desperate for them to win for my Dad who was a massive fan. Dad didn’t see 19. Mum didn’t quite make 20.

When Chancellor, Jeremy Hunt found millions to give to one of the most staunch Labour strongholds, Bootle on Merseyside, so the town's main shopping centre could be refurbished. The local Sefton authority having neglected and mismanaged it over the years. Jeremey is a great guy!

Is there not a police station in Wales similar to what Bootle street nick in Manchester was in the 70's and 80's where the cell residents were taught how to be polite in the cells by the nice Mr policemen.

Built by a Welshman from Anglesey, William “Klondyke” Jones. He became the mayor of Bootle in 1886, was a strict Presbyterianism and never allowed any pubs on the estate. He made his own bricks and provided the estate with its own electricity.
And if you go along Hawthorne Road today looking for a bevvy you still won’t find many pubs thanks to Mr Jones.
