This #development is being built in our light blue #lias #buildingstone. This beautiful bed of stone was extracted during a quarry campaign last year; it’s thinner and a softer blue compared to the usual beds. Unique and very special.

Sometimes a structure just ‘fits’ in its local landscape. This beautiful viaduct at Ponsarn, Merthyr Tydfil, looks like it has grown from the limestone it is founded on and built with.

Pontsarn Viaduct, on the edge of Merthyr Tydfil, was built in the 1860s to carry the Brecon and Merthyr Railway over the Afon Taf Fechan, which flows here in a fairly steep sided valley. It is a spectacular structure, in need of some TLC.
