✨ Celebrating Leadership, Partnership, and Opportunity ✨ Today we had the pleasure of attending the Luminate Education Group CEO Transition Event at Leeds City College — a celebration of the incredible leadership of Colin Booth OBE, who will retire at the end of 2025 after more than 40 years in education and a warm welcome to Bill Jones, who will take on the role of CEO in January 2026. It was inspiring to reflect on Luminate’s journey — from Leeds City College to one of the UK’s largest education groups — and to discuss the exciting opportunities ahead for young people and our communities. We were proud to have our two apprentices, James Pearson (Business Administration Apprentice) and Remus Surdu (Farm Apprentice), both current students at Leeds City College, join us at the event. James spoke passionately about his journey and the support he has received throughout his time at college and at CATCH, showing the real impact of collaboration between education and community partners. We remain committed to working closely with Luminate Education Group to create the best possible chances for young people to learn, grow and achieve their potential. 1/3) 🎃 What a Night at CATCH! 👻✨ Last night’s Halloween Youth Session was absolutely buzzing! Young people were queuing out the door, full of energy and ready for a spooky good time as part of our week-long Bonfire Period activities. Huge shoutout to our incredible Team Leaders who jumped straight into action and turned the evening into a fun, creative, and slightly terrifying masterpiece. And a massive thank you to Sami from The Pieces Project, whose makeup skills helped transform our young people into ghosts, ghouls, zombies and everything in between. The face paint was scarily good — and seeing the young people wandering around the centre in full spooky mode created such an electric atmosphere! We love nights like these: busy, joyful, safe, and full of creativity. Yesterday was all about getting outdoors - sport, activities, and plenty of smiles - but it was also a special celebration as we marked Remus’s 18th birthday! 🎉 Remus has been part of CATCH since he was 9 years old. From attending youth sessions, to becoming a young volunteer at 12, to being named SuperStar of the Year at 16, and now proudly serving as our Animal Care Apprentice - taking a lead on our educational farm that he helped build from the ground up. 🐐🌾 Over the years, he’s given almost 2,000 hours of volunteering, showing incredible dedication, resilience, and kindness. 1/2) There was something really special about our youth session ❤️ Every part of CATCH was alive with energy and purpose. The MUGA was full of sport and laughter, the farm and llama walks were in full swing, and the bus became a creative hub for arts and crafts thanks to The Pieces Project. Inside the Peace Sanctuary, our young apprentices and volunteers confidently led an away day presentation for our guests from Engage and Gordons Law Firm, while others quietly worked behind the scenes - sorting finance tasks, developing new training materials, and supporting one another. And because CATCH is like one big family, we even made time to celebrate a few birthdays 🎂 - reminding us that it’s not just about what we do, but how we come together to share moments that matter. What stood out most wasn’t just how busy it was, but how everyone found their place. Young people taking the lead, learning together, and showing what ownership looks like. It’s this sense of trust, belonging, and purpose that makes CATCH feel so alive. It’s not about being perfect - it’s about people. 🌟 Today, our young volunteers had a truly special experience at @LothertonHall — a stunning historic estate in Leeds with beautiful gardens, a museum, and the fantastic Wildlife World. 🏛️🌳🦜 They were invited to the official opening of the brand-new Cotton Top Tamarin enclosure 🐒, a vital conservation project supported by Vital Energi, the Leeds City Council’s district heating provider for Leeds PIPES. Our volunteers not only took part in this exciting launch but were also treated to a guided tour of Wildlife World, where they even got the chance to feed the wallabies! 🦘💚 A huge thank you to Lotherton Hall and Vital Energi for making this such a memorable and inspiring evening for our young people.
