Three men have been charged after a string of break-ins across Edmonton and nearby communities late last year.
The Edmonton Police Service says the incidents occurred between November 2025 and January 2026, including targeted thefts at fire halls in Water Valley and Calahoo. Rescue equipment such as cutters, spreaders and other “Jaws of Life” tools was stolen, with those items alone valued at about $110,000.
Between Dec. 1 and Jan. 8, investigators linked around 18 break-ins in Edmonton to the group, most involving the stolen rescue tools. The businesses targeted were mainly retail stores across southwest, southeast and northeast Edmonton, along with one in Sherwood Park. Police say the store owners were not connected.
Estimated property damage and stolen goods total between $750,000 and $1 million. Items taken included luxury bags and jackets, cannabis and vape products, and cash from ATMs and safes.
Logan Murrell, 30, Tristin Kaiser, 42, and Abram Dyck, 47, were arrested in late January and early February. Combined, they face more than 200 charges, including break and enter to commit theft, disguise with intent, and possession of stolen property over $5,000. Court dates have not yet been set.
