๐APPS FOR META AI GLASSES WITH DISPLAY
Meta didn't release too much information, but what it's clear for now is that it will work similarly to how Android Auto and CarPlay works.
Apps won't be executed in the glass, but in your phone.
There will be an SDK for Kotlin and Swift (known as Meta Wearables Device Access Toolkit) that will let app developers start a session in your glasses from your phone (using CoreKit). Then you can access the microphone and camera (using CameraKit) to do something with the stream. A preview will be available this year and the stable version if for next year, so this won't be available to initial users starting September, 30.
To test the app there will be a "Mock device kit" and a development mode in AI glasses.
There is no mention to any other way to open and use apps from the glass, such as requesting access with your voice or picking it from an icon in the Home Screen UI. It seems that initially they are only thinking on sessions you need to start from your phone for now, which is a bit disappointing.
Sessions on Meta Connect on the topic feels like with scripts written by Meta AI, rendered through AI avatars in the metaverse. Lots of words and fake on-camera gestures, but not a lot actually said.
P.S. Every session in Meta Connects starts with a 20-second intro of complete silence, which makes you wonder if your audio is broken. ๐คฆโโ๏ธ
