The original virtual tech startup originated in Canada. Metrowerks saved Apple and for a good spell owned embedded dev with CodeWarrior. Critical player in the the history of software/hardware. I know a few people who bootstrapped their careers & wealth working remotely for Metrowerks in the early days. All are now rich even by valley standards ( $10M USD with some quite higher ). Very innovative company that hired purely based on proving your ability to code. No in-person interviews and nobody cared what you looked like.

68系の開発で個人的に触ったのではUS RoboticsのPilotというPDAがDragonballという68系CPUで、CodeWarrior for Pilotというのを買って動かしてた。Palmの前身のPDAで日本ではまだユーザーが少なかった

I miss Metrowerks CodeWarrior.

PowerPCの時代になって、CodeWarriorが主流になるのだけど、あれ結構高かったんだよね。確かそのあたりでMPWが無料化された記憶がある。なので僕とかそのあたりでMPWを使うようになって、めんどくせえと思いながらもいじってた。きたるMacOSXに対応すCarbonアプリも作れたし。
