Despite being well into mid-
#June, climatologically the peak period for
#monsoon onset over much of
#Maharashtra but the southwest monsoon is yet to make onset into the state. 🌧️➡️🌡️
So in the absence of
#rainfall, minimum temperatures across
#Konkan continue to remain unusually high, with many locations recording values around 4°C above normal.
The prolonged spell of warm, humid nights has led to several remarkable temperature records across the region.

#Mumbai Continues Its Unprecedented Warm-Night Spell
#Mumbai #Colaba has now recorded a minimum temperature of 30°C or above for eight consecutive days, an exceptionally rare event.
While the station has recorded similar temperatures in the past, such a prolonged and uninterrupted streak of 30°C nights is unprecedented in the available record and highlights the persistence of the current humid weather pattern.

The unusual warmth is no longer confined to Mumbai and North Konkan.
#Ratnagiri recorded a minimum temperature of 29.2°C on 14-06-2026, equalling its all-time record for the same date, previously recorded on 14 June 1979. This marks the first occurrence of such a value in 47 years.
Meanwhile,
#Harne has once again recorded a minimum temperature of 30.2°C, the second time this month that the station has reached this mark. The value already stands as the station's new all-time record high minimum temperature (
#ATR).
📌 Why Are Nights So Warm?
The delayed monsoon advance, lack of widespread rainfall, persistent humidity, and continuous inflow of moisture-laden maritime air have prevented nighttime temperatures from cooling effectively.
As a result, much of
#Kokan is experiencing unusually warm and oppressive nights despite being in what is normally the peak phase of monsoon onset.
👉 Instead of discussing widespread monsoon rains in mid-June, attention has increasingly shifted toward record-breaking minimum temperatures, underscoring just how unusual the current weather pattern has become across the Konkan region.
