Hosted in Estonia from June 8 to 20, this exercise is organized by the Estonian Defence Forces, the NATO Centre of Excellence for Military Medicine, and the Estonian Health Board. Through its oversight of the mission rehearsal, the ARF Medical Branch works alongside this multinational team in Harju and Lääne-Viru counties to ensure seamless medical support, strengthened interoperability, and the ability to protect and sustain Allied forces wherever required. In the Allied Reaction Force, the land domain provides the foundation for presence, control and operational continuity on the ground. Over the last year, the #ARF Land Component Command, led by MND-S, has delivered the command and control structure required to coordinate land forces in demanding and rapidly changing scenarios. Its role is to transform operational intent into effective action on the ground, ensuring that subordinate units can be integrated, directed and sustained within a wider joint framework. Through continuous training, deployable C2 nodes and a strong focus on interoperability, MND-S strengthens the ARF’s ability to operate with agility and coherence across the battlespace. The #ARF Maritime Component Command is led by the Spanish Maritime Forces Headquarters, SPMARFOR, bringing to the Alliance a high-readiness, deployable and fully interoperable maritime command capability. Through its ability to command multinational naval forces, protect sea lines of communication and project power at sea and from the sea, the Maritime Component Command supports the ARF’s capacity to operate rapidly and effectively in joint and multi-domain scenarios. Certified by @NATO_MARCOM as “Mission Capable Without Limitations”, @spmarfor has demonstrated its capacity to operate in complex maritime environments, integrating naval, air, cyber, space and information activities. Steadfast Deterrence 2026: training today to ensure tomorrow’s security. On 22 April, #NRDCITA hosted the #ARF Monthly Study Day, focusing on the evolution of modern warfare and the challenges shaping today’s operational environment ahead of Exercise Steadfast Deterrence 2026. Discussions addressed the growing role of #UAVs and their integration with UGVs, ballistic missile threats, and the evolution of electronic warfare. The Commander also outlined the key challenges ahead for the Command, underlining the importance of readiness, adaptation and multi-domain integration. The @NATO Ballistic Missile Defence system has proven its effectiveness. The Aegis Ashore site in #Deveselu, Romania, combined with the radar in Türkiye, the site in Poland, and the U.S. Aegis BMD ships, forms a robust layered defence. Romania’s strategic decision to host a part of the system in Deveselu has proven to be the right one. Fifteen years ago, some claimed Iran lacked the ability to threaten the Euro-Atlantic zone with such missiles. Recent events have clearly proved otherwise. JFC Naples strengthens NATO’s Eastern Flank through collaborative planning Joint Force Command Naples personnel recently deployed as part of a NATO Joint Planning Team to Sofia, Bulgaria, contributing to the development of the Bulgarian national input to Enhanced Vigilance Activity Eastern Sentry. Working alongside colleagues from Allied Air Command and CAOC Torrejón, and in close coordination with the Bulgarian Air Force, JFC Naples planners supported operational planning, command and control integration, and information sharing. These efforts directly enhance NATO’s readiness, situational awareness and ability to deter and respond to potential airspace challenges along the Alliance’s eastern border. JFC Naples’ involvement reflects its vital role in NATO’s integrated approach to collective defence, crisis management and deterrence. By helping align national contributions with Alliance objectives, the Command continues to support a coherent and resilient defensive posture across the Eastern Flank.
