Christmas Day could not do it, but the ground made the race for him IMO, I will be against him on better ground, for me Maltese Cross ran well in spite of the ground, so but for the weather how dominate would Colmore have been in this years derby it will be interesting to see.
If trying to find a Derby winner, the most appealing factors for me are a Dam that got 1m4f on the track and had a 3 figure rating and the offspring raced at 2 and won over 7f, then I look at the Stallion, maybe Colmore are not dominate because of their stallions but their Mares.
@BirminghamWeAre Like you I love walking the canals around and close to Birmingham, particularly Kinver, Caunsal & Stourbridge. This week I walked on Colmore Row to around by the Town Hall & NH museum & was so impressed. But the next day I was brought back down to earth…1/2
- One inside New Street Station
- One on Colmore Row
- One on High Street/Broadway
- One near Chinatown
These are the ones I have been to and can remember…
There are many many others…
Weed Broad Street, Weed Library of Birmingham, Weed Gas Street Basin, Weed Custard Factory, Weed Colmore Row, Weed Victoria Square, Weed Chamberlain Square, Weed International Convention Centre, Weed Harborne
Oops 🫣
Tbf it does look great, need to keep the pressure on them for Colmore Row. Made the news but their comment on it was a bit wishy washy need them to commit to replacing by X time not just recognising they’ve fell short.
Manzoni planned to knock Colmore Row down too...for a road of course.
The proper streets were knocked down for the A38, witch splits this, and the Jewellery Quarter...forcing pedestrians to walk in to an awkward bridge to get to the other.
Places visited in 2026. #98. Society, Colmore Square, Birmingham.
Impressive craft beer/wines/gins & other drinks emporium with food court in central Birmingham. Next to Bull St. tram stop.

OMG GUYS????
ITS REALLY HAPPENING!!
Paving stones are going back down around the lamppost on Colmore Row!! These paving stones were replaced with tarmac back in Feb 2025. So glad we finally have a result 😁
Now just 2 other large patches to go.
Someone is really messing with my emotions here, because guess what? New paving stones haven’t been put back, they’ve just laid FRESH TARMAC back down instead, absolute jokers mate.
Great morning speaking to children at Colmore Junior School with the brilliant @sampad_arts. I loved listening to what makes them proud to be a Brummie. Looking forward to hearing from children across Birmingham as part of my #TheBigFuture survey.

Its sad to see, ive mentioned this a few times now but the Colmore Row area in general is seeing a decline in its public realm. It's generally dirty, with lots of undesirables hanging around everywhere. I avoid most lunchtimes. 😢😢😢
