Climate action that lasts is built at the grassroots, where decisions meet daily life. Last week, we concluded a targeted Parish Environmental Subcommittee training in Bwiiza Parish, Namasagali Subcounty (Kamuli District). Beyond strong participation, the engagement revealed exactly why community-led climate governance matters. The committee identified practical next steps that strengthen local climate resilience and ownership, including: - Training on potting tree seedlings to establish a community-managed tree nursery, ensuring sustained access to seedlings for conservation campaigns across all four villages. - A request to introduce “Orchard Week” in parish schools, combining tree planting with climate sensitization for children and teenagers, investing early in climate stewardship. -Selection of three parish committees across three districts to co-lead Community Dialogues, reinforcing local leadership in climate advocacy and accountability.
