Today,
@Mwarpkenya continued with the ongoing safeguarding training facilitated by
@PlanKenya at our headquarters office in Mombasa. The session built on previous learnings, diving deeper into critical areas that strengthen
#safe,
#inclusive, and
#accountable programming.
The training focused on Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), equipping participants with a deeper understanding of rights-based approaches. Discussions emphasized the importance of promoting
#dignity, informed
#decision-making, and
#protection from
#harm, especially for vulnerable groups.
Participants also explored Prevention of Sexual Harassment, Exploitation, and Abuse (PSHEA), reinforcing the responsibility of organizations and individuals to uphold zero
#tolerance to
#misconduct. The session highlighted practical strategies for identifying
#risks, responding to concerns, and fostering a culture of accountability and respect within programs and communities.
A key highlight of the day was the risk assessment analysis exercise. Participants were divided into two groups and engaged in a hands-on, practical session where they developed
#RiskAssessment frameworks based on real-life program scenarios. This activity enabled them to identify potential
#safeguarding risks, evaluate their
#impact, and propose effective
#mitigation measures. The group work encouraged collaboration, critical thinking, and the application of theoretical knowledge into practical safeguarding solutions.
The training continues to strengthen MWARP’s commitment to ensuring that all programs are safe, ethical, and responsive to the needs of the communities we serve.
