Aaron is actually tasting his dish as he cooks - smart lad (so many contestants don't seem to do this - even if just to check their seasoning - cooking101) #MasterChefAU

TOPIC: The Microwave Masterclass 🍿🧵 Post 1 The most misunderstood appliance in your kitchen: The Microwave. We all use it, but 90% of us are using it wrong. A thread on how to actually cook (not just reheat) like a pro. Set the timer... 👇 #KitchenHacks #Cooking101 Post 2 How it actually works: Microwave radiation causes water molecules in food to vibrate. This friction creates heat. The radiation penetrates about 1 inch. The rest of the food heats up via conduction (heat moving from the outside in). Rule: The thicker the food, the slower it needs to cook. Post 3 STOP using the default "High/100%" power for everything. This is why your meat is rubber and your pasta is dry on the edges. The "Power Level" button is your best friend: 50% (Medium): Perfect for gently reheating delicate items like dairy. 30% (Low/Defrost): The only way to defrost without cooking the edges. Post 4 Things you must NEVER put in the microwave (besides metal): 🛑 Whole Eggs: They become steam bombs. 🛑 Hot Peppers: The heat vaporizes the capsaicin. It’s literal pepper spray when you open the door. 🛑 Grapes: They generate plasma. 🛑 Running it empty: This can permanently damage the internal magnetron. Post 5 The 3-Step Reheat Formula: Arrange: Place thicker portions (like meat) on the outer edge of the plate; they cook faster there. Leave the center open. Add Moisture: Sprinkle a teaspoon of water over the plate or use a damp paper towel. Steam is your friend. Go Low: Reheat at 60-70% power. It takes 30 seconds longer but revives the food perfectly. Post 6 "Microwave Safe" means the container won't melt. It does NOT mean chemicals won't migrate into your food. ✅ Glass and Ceramic are the safest options. ⚠️ Plastic (even if safe) degrades over time. If it’s warped or scratched, toss it. ❌ Never use Styrofoam or aluminum foil. Post 7 Maintenance is key for safety. That metal mesh on the door is called a Faraday Cage. It reflects the radiation back inside. If that mesh is damaged, the door is bent, or the seal is broken: DO NOT USE IT. Also, keep the inside walls clean to prevent sparking and "arcing." Post 8 Question of the day: What is the one food or beverage you REFUSE to microwave because it just tastes wrong? (For me, it’s leftover pizza... only the air fryer or oven will do!) Drop your hot takes below 👇🍕
I can't believe she actually did it... 😱 Her reaction at the end is everything

I decided to make some Moroccan chicken. Searing and cooking in a large raised pan is good, but baking it in an oven afterward, even better. Lastly, I only had a small amount of honey around, so I used cane brown sugar as well. Came out spicy & sweet. #cooking101

Dear Food Expert, Different foods have different cooking times. Broccoli cooks relatively quickly. By keeping it in larger pieces - especially when cooked with other foods that take longer - you are ensuring the broccoli doesn't get overcooked. #Cooking101

😎 #Cooking101 #IPA

Cooking 101… I was “today years old” when I discovered that you can make Dulce de Leche for dessert recipes by cooking canned condensed milk for two hours in simmering water. 😳🤯😮😲🙀 #KitchenHacks #Cooking101 #CookingTipOfTheDay
