Bollywood icon Govinda, popularly known as “Hero No.1”, visited Meghalaya to inaugurate the Pine Club, a new family lounge located at Jorabat, near the Assam-Meghalaya border. The club aims to offer a premium weekend retreat and social space for families, tourists, and locals.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by James K Sangma, Chairman of the Meghalaya Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC), Atul Seth, CEO of Pine Club, and Mayborn Rapthap, Vice President of the Club, along with special guests, family members, and club associates.
Speaking at the event, Govinda lauded the natural beauty of Meghalaya and the hospitality of its people, describing them as “well-mannered and respectful.” He expressed hope that people would continue to live in unity and mutual respect. He also praised the location of the club at the border, saying it would foster greater social connection between neighbouring communities.
Vice President Mayborn Rapthap informed that Pine Club will operate exclusively on weekends (Saturdays and Sundays), and will welcome both locals and visitors. He added that the club is expected to generate employment opportunities for local youth and offer a relaxing space with quality food and entertainment.
