“C-section is not a normal birth”. It’s one thing for illiterates to say this, but when it comes from a medic… it is highly disappointing and dangerous. This is what everyone must know. Educate yourselves and pass on the knowledge. #CSectionAwareness

Caesarean Awareness Month 💛 I had a planned C-section and was lucky to feel prepared and supported. I know that’s not everyone’s experience. Thinking of the mums whose journeys were unexpected or difficult, your stories matter too. #CaesareanAwarenessMonth #CSectionAwareness

April is International Cesarean Awareness Month A C-section is not “the easy way out.” It is major surgery. It is birth. It is often a life-saving decision that brings a healthy baby and mother safely through delivery. In Nigeria, where maternal mortality remains tragically high (over 1,000 deaths per 100,000 live births), timely access to emergency C-sections can mean the difference between life and death for mothers and babies. Yet stigma, fear, and myths still push many women to avoid it — even when medically necessary. This April, let’s Educate, Support and Advocate: • Respect every birth story either vaginal or cesarean. • Support mothers recovering from C-sections (the pain is real, the healing takes time). • Push for better access, skilled care, and informed choices in our hospitals. To every woman who has had a C-section: You are strong. You are enough. Your body did what it needed to do to bring life. You are a warrior. Share your experience (or a loved one’s) below let’s break the silence and stigma together. #CesareanAwarenessMonth #CSectionAwareness #MaternalHealthNigeria #AllBirthsAreValid

This scar on the lower abdomen is most commonly from a cesarean section (C-section) or, less often, other open abdominal surgeries like a hysterectomy or exploratory laparotomy. It's a classic Pfannenstiel scar many women carry after childbirth. With proper care, these can fade nicely over time. silicone gels, massage, and sun protection help a lot. No need for alarm; it's a common and important reminder of the strength it takes to bring life into the world. 💪 If there's any pain, redness, or bulging, it's worth checking with a doctor to rule out hernia or other issues.

C-sections are major surgeries—not failures. Who decided pain should be ranked in childbirth? Being cut open while awake isn’t “weak.” Childbirth isn’t a competition. Every mother deserves respect. 👇🏽 #CSectionAwareness #MaternalHealthAwarenessDay

🚩 The Scale of C-Section Challenges While c-sections are a vital intervention, there are significant disparities in outcomes, especially in low and middle income (LMIC) countries. 🌍 Global Disparity 🌍 In #LMIC countries, mothers undergoing c-sections are 100 times more likely to experience #maternal #mortality compared to high-income countries. This alarming gap highlights the urgent need for equitable #access to #safe surgical #care for all #women. ❗️ Root Causes ❗️ The challenges surrounding c-section outcomes stem from various factors: 1️⃣ Inappropriate Use: C-sections performed "too many, too soon" or "too little, too late." 2️⃣ Unsafe Practices: Issues during the procedure compromising patient safety. 3️⃣ Substandard Care: Lack of quality care during labour leading to complicated c-sections. 🤝 Collaborative Solutions 🤝 Addressing these challenges requires a multi-faceted approach: ✅ Strengthening healthcare provider skills and knowledge. ✅ Promoting #evidence #based practices and safe vaginal births. ✅ Improving communication, teamwork, and cultural attitudes. ✅ Empowering women in decision-making and ensuring access to quality care. Join us and the @CSafeTrial in raising awareness, supporting #research and initiatives that strive for safer birth experiences worldwide.🌟 #MaternalHealth #Csection #Caesarean #CSectionExplained #CSectionAwareness #CSectionChallenges #HealthEquality #MaternalHealthMatters #SafeBirths #GlobalHealth #CSafe #Research #EllyCharity #weareElly
