Much needed—DCIL aims to handle 100% of domestic dredging by 2030 (slow still), up from ~80% today (~120 M m³/yr). New 12,000 m³ hopper dredgers like Dredge Godavari from CSL will help bridge the gap & support port expansions like Vadhavan, Tuticorin OH & Galathea Bay, adding up to 30 M m³/yr.
Major port projects, like Ennore & Vadhavan, have faced delays from dredging—cost escalation, slow execution, limited large dredgers (not to forget eco clearance)—often stretching timelines & budgets even after awarding contracts.
