Bret Michaels has become the fifth artist to pull out of the Trump-backed "Freedom 250" concerts in D.C. In his statement he said: “Unfortunately, what was presented to us as a celebration of our country has evolved into something much more divisive than what I agreed to be a part of. Concerns have also been raised regarding the safety of my fans, band, crew, family and myself…” Here’s the thing — I’m not buying it. Funny how there was no mass panic or mass cancellations when the Christian events faced similar threats. At this point, I expect more to drop. Maybe then we’ll actually get some fresh talent instead of the same nostalgia acts. These artists claim to care about the fans, but it sure looks like they’re more worried about protecting their brand and staying in good graces with the right crowd. Real men stand on what they believe in. Running from the fight when things get a little controversial just shows what you’re made of. Fans who were looking forward to seeing these acts at a major American celebration just got let down. Guess they’ll have to pay premium prices to see them elsewhere now. No one I know is losing sleep over this dropout. History shows the pattern. It’s called America 250 — a celebration of our country, not “Trump 250.” The constant need to make everything political and divisive says more about the critics than the event itself.
