Full blown chaos: @demon__10k , with his neon green hair flaring, clashed swords with @pabloo669 , both screaming about the last Eggcellent Whitelist spot. “It’s MINE!” yelled @demon__10k . “Over my fluffy feathers!” snapped @pabloo669 , sword swinging dramatically. Rushing between them, wanna be cool as ever, @AdedayoWeb3 jumped in, arms wide, saying, “You guys keep fighting, but that whitelist? Already claimed by ME!” His grin said confidence, but deep down, even he wasn’t sure how this would end. Suddenly, soaring above the madness, came @Black_Crypto_X3 , sharp in his black suit, wings cutting through the sky. In one swift move, he scooped up @a_aphrodiite , carrying her away from the danger zone. “Hang tight, @a_aphrodiite that’s not your battlefield down there,” @Black_Crypto_X3 stated, scanning the fight zone below. And standing cool as ever, watching the entire scene with a smirk, was @datagene, hands in pockets, laughing, “Everything alright down there? Typical whitelist drama.” And then… BOOM! The second session, chaired by Dr Matthew Shaffer, CEO, DataGene Ltd., Australia, and Mr Toine Roozen, Director, Interbull Centre, SLU, Sweden, focused on “From Data Collection to Genetic Improvement in Smallholder Dairy Systems.” Mr Toine Roozen welcomed the speakers and initiated discussions on leveraging the power of data collection and analysis for genetic progress in smallholder dairy farming. 🔹 Dr Sachin Joshi, Chief Thematic Programme Executive, BAIF Development Research Foundation, India, highlighted BAIF’s data collection system, covering trait recording, monitoring, validation, biological sampling, and genotyping. He emphasised challenges in data collection due to constraints in smallholder systems and suggested IoT and AI-based phenotype recording, and farmer enrollment strategies to enhance participation and data accuracy. 🔹 Dr Nilesh Nayee, Deputy General Manager, Animal Breeding – Field Projects, NDDB, India, discussed genetic evaluation programmes for smallholder dairy cattle and buffaloes in India. He detailed how performance recording, pedigree tracking, and genomic selection are used to estimate Genomic Breeding Values (GBVs) for key traits, ensuring superior bull selection and genetic improvement to benefit farmers. 🔹 Dr Matthew Shaffer, CEO, Datagene Ltd., Australia, explained the impact of heat stress on dairy cattle and how genetic selection for heat tolerance offers a sustainable solution. He outlined DairyBio’s development of Genomic Estimated Breeding Values (GEBVs) using high-density SNP panels, improving prediction reliability and helping the industry build more resilient herds. 🔹 Prof Helene Soyeurt, Full Professor, University of Liège - Gembloux Agro-Bio Tech, Belgium, emphasised data-driven innovations for dairy transformation in developing countries. She advocated for robust animal identification, farmer-led record-keeping, MIR-based milk analysis and machine learning for broader participation. She stressed the importance of policy support, subsidised technologies, and coordinated efforts among stakeholders to drive sustainable dairy development. Summarising the session, Dr Shaffer underscored the need for advanced genetic tools, digital innovations, and collaborative efforts to enhance dairy sustainability in smallholder systems.
