Airtel Nigeria has launched a new Web Data Calculator, giving customers a clearer picture of how their internet data is consumed across everyday digital activities. The tool helps users estimate data usage for video streaming, social media, voice and video calls, web browsing, and more, making it easier to choose the right data plan and manage consumption effectively. The launch comes at a time when transparency around data usage has become a major industry focus. It aligns with ongoing efforts by telecom operators and the NCC to address concerns about data depletion, improve customer education, and strengthen trust in mobile broadband services. Recent initiatives across the sector have included billing audits, customer engagement forums, daily usage notifications, and enhanced consumer awareness campaigns. By translating online behaviour into easy-to-understand data estimates, Airtel's calculator empowers subscribers to make smarter digital decisions while promoting greater visibility into how data is spent. A positive step toward a more transparent and customer-centric telecom experience in Nigeria. My internet was suddenly disconnected because Jio claimed I had exceeded my monthly data usage limit. The problem? In over a year of use, I've never even crossed 20% of that limit. Suddenly, the app showed 100% consumed. Then I found out.. 2/5 @JioCare @reliancejio #DataUsage

TECHNOLOGY NEWSWIRE: Meta is removing end-to-end encryption from Instagram DMs, urging users to switch to WhatsApp or Messenger for encrypted messaging. SOCIAL MEDIA NEWS: The move reflects pressure from global safety regulations and aligns with Meta's focus on WhatsApp as a privacy-centric platform. NO PRIVACY: Meta is ending end-to-end encryption (E2EE) for Instagram DMs, advising users to switch to WhatsApp or Meta's standalone Messenger for private messaging. For those seeking E2EE privacy, Meta reiterates recommendations to use WhatsApp or Messenger, both of which still offer encryption. The change affects roughly 3 billion Instagram users worldwide who could previously opt into E2EE, aligning with Meta’s broader shift of privacy tools toward WhatsApp. The move sits within a broader debate about security versus privacy, including UK concerns over child protection on encrypted platforms. The timing intersects with the U.S. Take It Down Act, pressuring platforms to remove illicit content quickly; encryption removal makes scanning easier but reduces user privacy. Ending E2EE could enable easier access to messages for monitoring and raise concerns about harms such as CSAM, grooming, and other abuse content. Industry observers call the policy shift a major U-turn that could recalibrate privacy and security in private communications. Critics say the move responds to law-enforcement and child-safety pressure, while Meta hints at using conversational data for product improvements and AI training, though it claims DMs aren’t used for targeted ads today. Law enforcement and safety advocates have long sought encryption removal, but the change may also enable Meta to leverage DM content for algorithms or product development, contrary to some assurances. Experts and reporters warn about potential impacts on privacy, law-enforcement access, and safety features in DMs after the policy shift. Meta ties the decision to possible enforcement of European and UK safety regulations that could require detection of CSAM in private messages. TLDR - CHECK YOUR DATA USAGE HABITS BEFORE ACCUSING YOUR NETWORK PROVIDER OF STEALING YOUR DATA I want to use this medium to provide some clarity and educate those that have been insulting me for urging @rukky_nate and those who claim their data or bandwidth disappear to show proper proof or check their data usage habits first before accusing their network provider of stealing their bandwidth data. If your data or bandwidth depletes faster than you expect, you need to check your data usage statistics on your Android or iPhone. Check on Android via Data Usage Check on iPhone via Mobile Service For example, I used around 23 GB of data last month and this month I have used about 1 GB of data. I have been online 24/7 and I can say I have stayed in touch with every important person in my life and I've been well informed of important events happening around me and globally. Now contrast my data usage habit with that of this iPhone user (see attached video) who has used 131 GB of data since March 1st, 2026. That's around 65 GB per month, for relatively the same purpose. What about you? How much data have you used in the last 1 - 2 months? Check and share the screenshot of your data usage in the comments. As of today, I do not work for any network provider. I have equally criticised @MTNNG for their exploitative pricing habit on one of @Sowore's posts recently. You can verify. We can all join hands to hold our network providers accountable but let's do it from a place of truth and accurate data. I used to think my data subscription was being stolen until I researched and discovered the cause and changed my online data usage habits. You too can adjust as well while we collectively call for more transparent pricing, billing and extended validity period of data plans because those are the real issues. What do you think? #DataUsage #MTN #AIRTEL #GLO

पूरा कार्यक्रम देखें: youtu.be/PR53yEqAYy0 @MamtaDdnews @Cyberdost @PIB_India @MIB_India #AI #5GIndia #DataUsage #CyberSecurity #InternetInfrastructure

This is going to be a controversial thing for us to say, but sometimes it’s true: you can use up your data without even realising it. Here are two important things you need to know: 1. ISPs in Zimbabwe don’t just count download data; they also count your upload data. Be mindful of that! 📊 2. Background apps often use up more data than you might think. Although things are improving, it’s still something to keep an eye on. These days, you can configure your internet connection as limited/capped in the WiFi settings, which helps. However, be cautious with some apps that don’t respect this setting. Join our WhatsApp channel to stay updated: whatsapp.com/channel/0029Va7… #DataUsage #Zimbabwe #ISP #WiFiSettings #TechTips
