I'm thrilled to share that
@getpostpilot made an appearance in this year's Inc5000.
I'm not much for public awards like this in general...
...but I have some history with this one.
25 years ago I read
@Inc religiously.
As a Navy lieutenant, I'd read over it when it was shipped to my home at sea, the USS Carl Vinson--dreaming of one day running my own business.
And years later as a new entrepreneur I'd pour over the Inc500 listings, trying to think through how I might one day recreate their success.
In one of those listings, I read about ecommerce retailer
@backcountry. It was one of the ONLY DTC brands in there in those days (maybe THE only one?). And it was the perfect model for me and my fledgling startup
@designpublic
So on a flyer, I emailed their CEO and founder John Bresee asking for advice.
He sent back a one sentence email: "Get on a plane, come visit us and I'll show you everything."
So I got on that plane with my co-founder
@sinadjafari.
John opened the kimono and showed us all about how to build a 100M brand online.
It's through him I met my original ecommerce network--
@sambruni and
@DustinRobertson and Jill Layfield (google her). John left me with one key to success in ecommerce: "pressure over time, that's it." He became a 20 year mentor, RIP.
So--that's my Inc5000 story.
Back to the present. I'm happy that we are now in that same ranking that I once poured over religiously, where I once found John and Backcountry and set me on my 20 year ecommerce journey.
And I'm proud of the team at PostPilot for helping us build this rocket-ship company.
Onward.
