At the House of Commons’ Standing Committee on Finance (FINA) hearings, the Chair of the Intentional Community Consortium (ICC)
@GladstoneCFRE delivered a clear message: Canada must invest in supportive housing for people with hashtag#developmental hashtag#disabilities before families reach a crisis point.
For thousands of individuals and their caregivers, the lack of affordable, accessible, and supported housing means years—often decades—of uncertainty. Without proactive investment, families are forced to rely on more costly emergency, health care, and long-term care systems when community-based solutions could provide better outcomes and greater independence.
@ReenaFoundation is proud to stand with the ICC and its 80 member organizations in advocating for housing models that promote inclusion, dignity, choice, and belonging. Intentional communities have demonstrated that when people with developmental disabilities have access to the right housing and supports, they thrive as active members of their communities.
The message to the government is simple: invest now, build now, and create the housing solutions that individuals and families have been waiting far too long to access.
