Congratulations
@Sushmitav1 for highlighting the
#DigitalDisaster caused by
#Webland in
#AndhraPradesh - and, I add,
#Dharani in
#Telangana.
#AP with Ryothwari settlement done in 1850s, has had fairly good land administration system until it was 'rendered virtual' in 2015. Havoc was let loose by officials, land sharks, politicians, pairavikars, which reached crescendo between 2021 and 2024.
Though AP Land Titling Act was repealed in 2024, the damage done by 'resurvey', carving of land parcels, arbitrary, capricious, corrupt manipulation of land records by officials have not been reversed or stalled, instead has gathered accelerated momentum.
Though
#Dalits and
#Adivasis may have been the worst sufferers, digitisation of land records has had disastrous impact on virtually every land owner. It has contributed to massive land grab by politicians, officials, contractors, and even NRIs, and endless litigation.
I appeal to
@AndhraPradeshCM @ncbn to appoint an empowered commission to review the situation and undo the damage done during the past 10 years. Meanwhile, restore the physical records, especially Adangal and allied statutory records. Please stall all 'experiments' that could accentuate the crisis that currently grips the AP land administration. Revenue officials from CCLA to VRO must upgrade their knowledge and skills in land administration.
I am one of the few
#IAS officers who had led survey, settlement and comprehensive rationalisation of land administration system in several districts of AP and Telangana. The current situation, Sir, is appalling. Please Act.

🚨Exclusive: "How can a person who doesn't even live in the country, now be updated as an owner and cultivator both?" asks tribal farmer Lakshman Rao
Andhra Pradesh's land digitalisation is excluding tribals and Dalits from land & welfare
