@SIAuk : I've officially been forced out of the security industry and have had to train for a different sector I don't even want to be in. Why? Because a qualified, 4x licensed pro with MoJ clearance is being systematically blocked from basic employment by your premier contractors.
Major taxpayer-funded contractors like
@mitie are weaponising BS7858 to deny people employment after a job offer, simply for having periods of temporary employment, not signing on or unemployment gaps. This is a blatant, discriminatory practice against British citizens seeking work.
Instead of verifying gaps as BS7858 actually allows, Mitie uses it as a lazy tool for corporate blacklisting. What is the point of paying for SIA licenses if major government contractors are allowed to play God and freeze qualified professionals out of their own industry?
I have given
@Mitie every opportunity to explain themselves and correct their exclusionary processes. After all, they publicly claim they are going to "uplift 1 million lives" through inclusive employment. I’ve written to their directors, my MP, and Dan Jarvis. I am not out of work, but I am barred from working in the security industry.
I want to know why a qualified British national is being blocked from working in his chosen profession; one I have worked in for most of my adult life.
CEO Phil Bentley is basically an accountant running a major facilities management company. I have worked in the security sector significantly longer than he has, yet his company is brickwalling me from work while claiming they "support people into work."
I've had 3 separate job offers from
@Mitie in 5 years. All 3 were rug-pulled at the last second, using BS7858 as a lazy excuse to deny me what was essentially basic minimum wage work.
To put that into context: I've now left the sector and am earning £15.66/hour plus a £2.60 shift allowance. To say the security industry is broken is an absolute understatement!
The gatekeeping by major taxpayer-funded contractors isn't protecting sites; it's actively driving qualified professionals straight of the industry.
I want answers, and I want accountability. 💭🤔
