People leaving Direct Provision / IPAS are told to find private rental accommodation through HAP. However, with almost no rentals available, they are then assessed as homeless and placed into the 2nd highest priority bracket on @corkcitycouncil housing list — ahead of long-term applicants who still have some type of roof over their heads. This is how the system actually works - correct me if I am wrong. (Not blaming individual IPAs by the way)

Confirmed today by the CHI CEO that it was Aramark who gifted CHI the €30,000, admitting it was wrong to originally accept it.
Aramark, the same company that is fleecing parents of sick children in the hospital shops.

A nice fluffy propaganda piece but if this family were several years in #DirectProvision as the article suggests it's probably because they had their application for asylum refused & they appealed. So the basis for them being here was based on a lie. irishexaminer.com/news/munst…
If she was three years in #DirectProvision then her application for #Asylum as refused and she appealed. Incidentally she could have left DP at any time, no one is forcing her to have free meals, free medical, a free bed and free education redfm.ie/cork/woman-says-she…
Go home or go and rent like everyone else you you don't have to stay in direct provision. Anyone who's in #Directprovision longer than 2 years shoybe deported they are here illegally

Today, we stood with our members in Ocean View in Tramore, as they and their families were threatened with eviction!
Tonight, they continue to be able to stay in Ocean View, instead of being out on the street 💪

Hmmm.., so minister says Ireland isn't a “soft target”, but what about Roderic O’Gorman's 2021 promised own-door or own-room housing within 4 months for asylum seekers? That pledge was never officially retracted, so it still shapes real-world expectations
#DirectProvision
I am curious to know that of all the groups running, many running for charities like cancer and children's illness, you choose to mention #asylumseekers, when the vast, vast majority have been found to be abusing the #DirectProvision system with false applications ?
ALT Our member Jane is being evicted during a housing crisis.
Show the strength of our union and member solidarity by partaking in our phone & email picket today!
ALT WHAT’S HAPPENING?
Our member Jane is being evicted after residing in Birchwood House Direct Provision Centre for almost 2 years. She has just 7 months left in her Applied Healthcare studies at SETU, but IPAS is trying to evict her and send her to homeless accommodation in Donegal. She will be forced to leave her studies, her job, and her community.
IPAS is trying to use ‘divide and conquer’ tactics to individually evict thousands of members around the country.
ALT OUR DEMANDS
At CATU Waterford, we have just 1 demand for Birchwood House and IPAS.
Allow Jane to stay in Birchwood House for 7 months, to give her time to find new accommodation and to finish her studies.
ALT PHONE & EMAIL PICKET
Please help Jane and all of us at CATU by contacting Birchwood House and IPAS over Email and Phone from 9am tomorrow, Thursday 17th October.
Please also come to Birchwood House in Waterford City (X91 PY0Y) at 3:30pm tomorrow to help show community support and resist the eviction of our member Jane.
