I think it depends if you feel you need a support system or not. I think ERGs are very beneficial. I’ve attended the DisabilityIN conference for a few years now and as someone with ADHD and possibly autism I find them to be very helpful. I can only speak for my own experience but an organization without ERGs isn’t a good thing. Safe spaces are good. It doesn’t matter if you went to attend or not. It matters that people have the option if they need it.

When the German film producers flew out to Boston to create a documentary about me, they asked who owned my company. I of course answered "me, it is my company". Then they asked to speak to my mom and asked her the same question. She said "Collette does. It is her company, her recipes, her cookies, all her decisions, she is the Boss." They asked "how she was able to open her own company. How did the government let her". That's when we learned that someone like me with a labeled disability, would not be allowed to open their own business. If someone wants to start their own company they have to apply to the government, and in my case, I would automatically be deemed incompetent and denied. WOW. That made me very sad, angry too but sadder.
