Member of the UN Disability Rights Committee, Markus Schefer, is speaking at Portuguese presidency event this morning. The EU #DisabilityRightsStrategy is not the beginning nor the end of the paradigm shift needed to ensure the rights of persons with disabilities.

Through advocacy and discussions with the @EU_Commission EUD highlighted that #DisabilityRightsStrategy should focus on empowering persons with disabilities through #employment in open and inclusive labour markets & to track progress we need disaggregated data by disability type

In its position paper on #FreedomOfMovement EUD presented that deaf persons still experience barriers when exercising the right to #FreedomOfMovement in labour and learning mobility. New #DisabilityRightsStrategy must ensure that such barriers are removed!
