If @SBCExecComm believes that @Protestia published "edited" clips all they would need to do is show the full transcript right? Wouldn't that discredit Protestia? If course it seems that both Jeff & the ExecComm are doing what liberals do to conservatives. They play the victim

And it not being easy is why the standard procedure is to refer it to the ExecComm to review it and make sure it makes sense. Bypassing that standard procedure is a bad idea.
These are good and unavoidable questions. It's not so easy to make clear, focused denominational bylaws.

I could get behind this. We could have been well served by ExecComm providing some leadership in this way from Cooperation Group recommendations before we got to this point.
Here's an approach that I think might please the vast preponderance of Southern Baptists: 1. Amend Article III of the Constitution by removing the entire list of "things that will get you kicked out."

In 2007 messengers voted near-unanimously for SBC ExecComm to conduct a study on feasibility of a clergy sex abuser database. In 2008, ExecComm reported back - a conclusory "no" - but with nothing resembling what most ordinary ppl would consider a study. Crickets from messengers.

SBC ExecComm has spent $861,217 on its tipline - i.e, the hotline that was never hot. Yet not a single name on any database. The hotline was ALWAYS problematic - a theater piece presenting an illusion of accountability. baptistnews.com/article/abou… Expensive illusion. #ThisistheSBC

Law Amendment was introduced through the ExecComm, so it followed that prescribed pathway. Only thing that would have been affected here was the update to BFM last year to move from "pastor" to "pastor/overseer/elder"

SBC and ExecComm aren’t named. They would have then filed a response, not an amicus. But no, SBC shouldn't sit on their hands. They should fight for justice for a woman sexually abused as a child. Then humbly accept any resulting exposure. Unless Isa 1:17, Mic. 6:8 don’t matter.

Federal lawsuit vs. SBC ExecComm and 4 SBC Churches. May justice roll on like a river... #SBCtoo
WOWZA! #SBCtoo survivors file federal lawsuit in Memphis naming SBC ExecCom as defendant with 4 churches. Asserts RICO, alleging SBCEC engaged pattern of racketeering activity for furtherance of criminal conduct as corrupt organization. #ThisistheSBC fox13memphis.com/news/federa…

Yeah... praising the current ExecComm... men like Jonathan Howe, the guy who wrote that survivors "just have to be ignored." If anyone actually cared about accountability & reform, Howe would never have been selected as interim president of EC. #ThisistheSBC

And even as Morris Chapman was delivering this lofty-sounding speech - but saying SBC would do nothing b/c "autonomy" - Chapman & SBC ExecComm were ALREADY keeping their secret list of credibly accused clergy predators. Absolute duplicity then & now. Nothing new. #STILLtheSBC

Powerful letter by @WarrenDavidson. Having perviously served on ExecComm of @IOSCO, I'm disappointed in seemingly unprincipled & arbitrary attack on US credit sensitive #interestrates benchmarks. Seems like end-run of #US #Congress
To the @SECGov: I write regarding actions taken by the International Organization of Securities Commissions. Unfairly singling out USD CSRs without data or analysis and disregarding legislation enacted by Congress must be addressed.

that's because we use confusing language about who we are and what we do. The ExecComm can act "on behalf" of the Convention... Either way, though, these actions are originating within our entities and with our financial backing. We can disclaim all we want, but we own it.
