MECL Team Visits IIT Bombay Ahead of MoU Signing to Boost Academia-Industry Collaboration
On 23rd April 2025, a team from Mineral Exploration and Consultancy Limited (MECL), led by Shri P. Ravindran, GM (Exploration), visited the Department of Earth Sciences at IIT Bombay. He was joined by Shri Jayanto Chowdhury, HoD (IT) and Shri Sayandeep Chakraborty, Assistant Manager (Geology).
The visit was held just a day before MECL and IIT Bombay were set to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This MoU will mark the beginning of a strong partnership between Mineral exploration industry and academia.
During the visit, MECL shared details about its advanced facilities and technologies and explored IIT Bombay’s labs and facilities as well as held discussions with the faculty to identify areas for working together. A key focus was on using Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) in Geoscientific studies.
This collaboration aims to bring innovation, shared knowledge and impactful research, leading to new developments in mineral exploration and Earth science.
