Our new paper on the evolution of the notothenioid fish radiation and a phased reference genome for Harpagifer antarcticus 🐟 #fishgenomics#coldadaptation
Couldn’t be happier to have attended my first genomics conference #ICG2023 Met so many great people, and to top it off was awarded the @agtaGenomics ECR prize for my presentation! 🐠🧬 Watch this space for more #fishgenomics@uwaoceans@minderoo
Congratulations to all the #ICG2023 prize winners! Special shout out to @LaraParata from @uwaoceans who won the @agtaGenomics ECR presentation award for her work with the @minderoo OceanOmics Ocean Genomes. 👏👏👏 🐟🐠🧬
Meet the antifreeze fish surviving (and thriving) at -2°C 🥶
How? Notothenioids (icefish) have white blood because they have evolved not to have oxygen-binding haemoglobin protein - and oxygen dissolves better in water at very low temperatures.

Presented at my very first conference today @RBSZ3@KNDV1872. Talked about Tinder, catfish, its genome and how it can be used as model to reconstruct climate and landscape variation in Africa 🥸 @RBINSmuseum @BiologyKULeuven#fishgenomics
