I never got to use it, but anybody else remember Pal Mickey? It was an interactive Mickey Mouse plush that served as a personal, real-time theme park tour guide. Hidden in Mickey's nose, this sensor communicated invisibly with over 400 infrared transmitters hidden in rocks, trees, and buildings across all four theme parks. It could give you wait times and parade and fireworks reminders among other things. It became available at Disney World in April 2003, sales stopped and existing stock sold out in 2008, and Disney officially turned off the in-park infrared transmitters which ended Pal Mickey's live park guide functionalities. While his real-time park tracking features no longer work, the plush will still tell jokes, sing, and play trivia games at home when you squeeze his hands or belly.

I have learned so much from building this. So much to unpack. But I can honestly say that this is just the beginning. I have arrived at the point where I can create new functionalities on the fly by just selecting the paper and method I want or pointing the orchestrator to an article to replicate a feature and test it and decide whether to drop it or keep it based on self-generated evals. Self-improving AI is my absolute goal with this. Something that just upkeeps itself and I make decisions where my input matters.

AI Designed Antennas That Work But Defy Full Human Understanding AI systems are designing antennas and electromagnetic structures whose intricate geometries often resist straightforward human interpretation. These designs deliver superior performance in testing and real world use. Yet the precise reasons for their effectiveness remain partially opaque even to experts. The NASA ST5 Evolved Antenna One of the clearest examples is the X band antenna created for NASA’s Space Technology 5 mission. Engineers employed an evolutionary algorithm. This computational process mimics natural selection. It explored vast numbers of possible configurations on a supercomputer. The goal was to meet strict requirements for wide beamwidth, circular polarization, and impedance bandwidth on small spacecraft. The resulting antenna has a complex, organic looking wire structure. It resembles twisted shapes that human designers would rarely consider. Expert antenna engineers have noted that they would not have conceived such a form. Despite its unconventional appearance, the antenna met or exceeded mission requirements. It offered advantages in power efficiency, fabrication simplicity, and performance across elevation angles. It became one of the first computer evolved hardware objects flown in space. When mission parameters changed, the evolutionary system produced a revised design quickly. Testing in anechoic chambers confirmed it worked as needed. Paired evolved antennas achieved high efficiency. The underlying interactions of currents, fields, and resonances in this geometry are not fully explained by simple human derived principles. Researchers have used inverse design and neural networks to generate compact multi band antennas, filters, and related components for wireless chips. These AI produced structures frequently appear irregular or random. The designs are described as unintuitive and complex. Humans struggle to fully grasp why they outperform traditional versions in efficiency, bandwidth, and size. They enable functionalities that are difficult or impossible with manual methods. The process reduces design time dramatically. Yet the exact mechanisms behind their superior behavior often remain hard to distill into clear explanatory rules. Antenna performance arises from highly intricate interactions across geometries. Human engineers typically rely on symmetry, established patterns, and physical intuition built from experience. AI optimization lacks these biases. It uncovers subtle couplings, parasitic effects, or non obvious current paths purely through performance driven search in high dimensional spaces. The result is designs that function reliably when tested and deployed. Full mechanistic understanding, however, often lags. Engineers rely on simulation, measurement, and empirical validation rather than complete theoretical insight. This gap highlights a key aspect of AI generated technologies: functionality can precede full comprehension. These examples show clear practical benefits. Faster iteration, improved performance, and new capabilities benefit satellites, communications devices, radar, and sensing applications. For independent researchers and garage labs working on hardware, local AI, or custom systems, they demonstrate the value of hybrid approaches. Optimization explores possibilities while humans set constraints and perform validation. Challenges remain in domains needing high explainability. Advances in analysis tools continue to help. The central reality is that AI is producing antennas and related technologies that work effectively. Their inner workings stretch beyond current human intuition in important ways. This shifts focus toward responsible integration, testing, and collaboration between human insight and computational discovery.

Initially it was hard to get it working well with the previous models. It’s gotten much better with newer models. Adding new functionalities has become much easier as I decided to make everything in it accessible either via APIs or MCPs.

As layer 1 blockchains mature and evolve, incorporating new functionalities and features such as verifiable credentials, zero-knowledge proofs (ZKP), and novel consensus mechanisms. Which public blockchains standout and are the fastest in terms of TPS? @_Qubic_ @RedbellyNetwork @solana @dfinity @Cardano ? Why does this matter? Industry has been trying to move away from T 5, T 3, T 2 settlement in capital and financial markets for decades. As capital markets transition to on-chain transactions and volumes surpass traditional finance, fast blockchains offer institutions the ability to achieve instantaneous atomic T 0 settlement and finality.

There are various combinations I should have implemented for solving this cascading failure problem: 1. To have a request timeout , retry available with jitter(randomness for waiting time) and exponential backoff( we don't want second request to be retried immidiately instead 2nd request will wait for 2seconds, thirt will wait for 4 seconds). 2. To have the Circuit Breaker Pattern: 1. We have set request timeout as well 2. If no of requests either timed out or failed is > 5 3. Then basically for that service you tell the circuit is open[and what does it means is, in open circuit you don't have current flow analogous to that service is down] 4. But the open circuit timeout should also be given so that circuit will be half opened after 5 mins let's say so any request comes up after 5 seconds, then if it passed we close the circuit or update state to open again. 3. We can have Bulkhead Pattern: For a same service we divide the threadpool, into main functionalities, payment api 20 threads, user apis 10 threads, etc. this will always consume the payment api threads only, and all other functionalities of service will work. 4. We can also need to look into does that api is doing that much job of waiting for 12 seconds if yes, we need to add some async behaviour by firing the event, and for user just updating the even as in progress, this is more likely the solution here because you have mentioned it that it's expected request time is 200ms.

High-res art unfortunately can't be stored onchain. It doesn't mean that there's no onchain mechanism involved. Wether the contract is custom with custom functionalities or a simple seadrop clone would be a nice addition to the checker 😉

Topic 14: Sidecar Pattern: ============ An independent helper service attached to main service -Helps in independent scalability of a function. Some of the functionalities of sidecar -> logging, authentication, configuration, etc. Lifespan: --------- The sidecar and the main application, while separate entities, share the same lifespan in the sidecar pattern architecture. They get created, deployed and destroyed together. In Docker, always try to keep sidecar and main service in same container Use cases: ------------ -Monitoring and Metric collection -Logging -Security and authentication Kubernetes sidecar is Istio
Topic 13: Retry Pattern: ========== Retry pattern is used because most of the request failures are Transient or non-deterministic and will be recovered in few seconds. What we do in retry pattern is we will send the request again after few seconds Retry pattern should only kick in temporary errors like network timeouts, 5xx server errors, database deadlocks. Avoid for input validation failures (400), or authentication errors (HTTP 401) are permanent errors for that request. Architecture: -------------- -Retry Policy & Parameters: How and when to retry -Backoff Strategy: Constant delay, exponential delay -Jitter (Randomization): To prevent "THUNDERING HERD", if all clients retry same time, this will cause failure gain, so we need randomization -Circuit Breaker Integration -Idempotency and Side effects Use cases: ======== -Database operations -Microservice architecture
