"Inclusive memorialization means looking back and constantly remembering the past and perceiving it exclusively through court established facts, without even a pinch of historical revisionism and relativization of war crimes," Adem Ajdin, 18, Ilijaš, participant in
#MIRFest
🏛The memorialization process in Bosnia and Herzegovina shows how important the culture of memory is as something that significantly influences the building of our relationship with the recent past.
"What is important is to bring an open mind, compassion and understanding. These are difficult things, difficult topics we deal with. We all grew up differently, but it is important to take that moment of openness with us", Filip Spasojević, 21, Teslić, participant of the Peace Festival 2026
Considering the importance of introducing young people to the culture of remembrance, we took
#GenMemory participants to two places of suffering in
#Vitez, to Ahmići - where 116 Bosniaks were killed on 16.04.1993, and to the Osmica memorial - where eight children of Croatian nationality were killed on 10.06.1993.
The
#GenMemory project is supported by funds from 🇬🇧
@FCDOGovUK , and is implemented in partnership with the
@BritishCouncil 🇧🇦.
