We have returned from Malaga 🇪🇸 after completing the second work meeting within the Erasmus project #YouthforCoexistence. The inspiring young people of BiH and the region give hope for a better future! 🌟 Last summer, I met 50 incredible young people from 🇧🇦 🇭🇷 🇲🇪 🇷🇸, who came to BiH to take part in the EU-funded State of Peace programme. Over two weeks, they explored the legacy of the past, engaged with different narratives, and learnt about reconciliation and peacebuilding initiatives across the country. Tonight, I was very happy to watch a documentary about last year's programme. The film captures the courage of a new generation to listen, connect and build trust across borders. The European Union is proud to support initiatives like State of Peace! Huge thanks to all the young people who took part and joined us this evening. Special thanks to @VelmaSaric and @PCRCBiH, who implemented the project and continue to do excellent work empowering young people to learn from the past and help shape a more peaceful future. 🇪🇺🤝🇧🇦

✨​ How do we build the youth heroes of tomorrow? At the Youth Policy Dialogue 2026 with 🇪🇺 HR/VP @kajakallas in Budva, Montenegro, ​#​PCRCBiH facilitated an interactive workshop, ​''Building the Youth Heroes of Tomorrow​'', bringing together 25 young leaders from the Western Balkans and across Europe. Through storytelling, multimedia​, reflection exercises, and peer-to-peer discussions, participants explored what motivates ordinary people to take courageous action in difficult circumstances​ - and how these same values can be applied to today's challenges.​ In a region where competing narratives and social divisions continue to shape public discourse, empowering young people to become active agents of positive change is more important than ever.​ 🙏🏻​ A big thank you to ​colleagues at the @eu_eeas for the invitation and all participants for their openness, energy, and inspiring contributions. ✨ Kako mladi mogu biti heroji? Na Dijalogu o omladinskoj politici 2026. s visokom predstavnicom/potpredsjednicom 🇪🇺 @kajakallas u Budvi, #PCRBiH je održao interaktivnu radionicu pod nazivom ,,Mladi heroji budućnosti'', koja je okupila 25 mladih lidera sa Zapadnog Balkana i širom Evrope. Kroz narative običnih heroja, multimediju, refleksije i diskusije među vršnjacima, učesnici su istraživali šta motiviše obične ljude da preduzmu hrabre akcije u teškim okolnostima - i kako se te iste vrijednosti mogu primijeniti na današnje izazove. U regiji gdje podjeljeni narativi i društvene podjele i dalje oblikuju javni diskurs, osnaživanje mladih ljudi da postanu aktivni agenti pozitivnih promjena važnije je nego ikad. 🙏🏻 Veliko hvala kolegama iz @eu_eeas na pozivu i svim učesnicima na njihovoj otvorenosti, energiji i inspirativnim doprinosima. U okviru programa #SrebrenicaDocs u @SrebrenicaMC ove sedmice će biti prikazan dokumentarni film ,,Što te nema'' (Where Have You Been), nastao u ko-produkciji sa našim centrom. Trideset godina nakon genocida, preživjeli u Bosni i Hercegovini i dalje tragaju za nestalim. On the occasion of the 31st anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide, the Post-Conflict Research Center invites young people to apply for the seventh edition of the Srebrenica Youth School, which will take place from 6–12 July 2026. Panelists Cindy Horst, a researcher working on local peacebuilding and sustainable social transformations, and Ilaria Tucci, a peace educator and practitioner who uses theater as a tool for conflict transformation, dialogue, and peacebuilding, will discuss how art can contribute to strengthening communities, understanding diverse experiences, and creating spaces for peace. Last week, PCRC had the pleasure of hosting a workshop on Local Peace: Arts-Based Practices at the History Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Sarajevo. Over two days, researchers and practitioners from across Europe and beyond came together to explore how arts-based practices, including storytelling, photography, mapping, and embodied approaches, can contribute to peacebuilding, education, and community engagement. The workshop created space for meaningful exchange, reflection, and collaboration, highlighting the important role that creative practices can play in fostering local peace. #PCRCBiH je prošle sedmice imao zadovoljstvo ugostiti radionicu na temu "Lokalni mir: Prakse temeljene na umjetnosti" u Historijskom muzeju Bosne i Hercegovine u Sarajevu. Tokom dva dana, istraživači i praktičari iz cijele Evrope i šire okupili su se kako bi istražili kako prakse temeljene na umjetnosti, uključujući pripovijedanje, fotografiju i mapiranje mogu doprinijeti izgradnji mira, obrazovanju i angažmanu zajednice. Radionica je stvorila prostor za smislenu razmjenu, promišljanje i saradnju, ističući važnu ulogu koju kreativne prakse mogu imati u poticanju lokalnog mira. On 31 May 1992, 34 years ago, Bosnian-Serb forces issued a decree in Prijedor that called for all non-Serb civilians to mark their houses and arms with white cloth. Tens of thousands of individuals bearing this marker were sent to the now infamous Omarska, Keraterm, and Trnopolje concentration camps. Subjected to shocking treatment and torture, 3,173 people, died at the hands of their captors. Amongst Prijedor’s dead were 102 children.
