ALT This research has described the qualitative differences in the way a group of academics from diverse disciplinary backgrounds conceive of generic graduate attributes in the context of their own courses and teaching. In doing so it has brought to the surface some of the understandings that underpin academics' current efforts to ensure students develop valuable generic attributes as a result of their university experience. It is hoped that in making these various understandings and approaches explicit, the findings of this study will provide a tool to facilitate ongoing dialogue aimed at developing university curricula which comprehensively and effectively address the achievement of relevant and worthwhile graduate outcomes.
