See what’s happening in the pistachio orchards of Fresno County, California. Join Sustainable Solutions Specialist Tim DeSilva in this episode of Valent Views as he scouts pistachios during late nut-fill and the early stages of hull split. Once nuts are open and exposed, they become highly vulnerable to navel orangeworm (NOW) and other pests. Keeping damage under 2% is the industry standard, making timely hull-split treatments critical. Tim also highlights challenges with Gill’s mealybug, a pest that can inhibit harvest and processing while degrading nut quality. With careful scouting and well-timed applications, growers can protect both crop quality and equipment efficiency. Real orchards. Real challenges. Real solutions.
