🇫🇮 Doctoral Researcher Opportunity | Tampere University, Tampere, Finland
🔬 Doctoral Researcher: Systems Biology / Bioinformatics / Biophysics
— Antibiotic Resistance & Gene Regulatory Networks in Klebsiella pneumoniae
(Sigrid Juselius Foundation Funded)
Tampere University’s Laboratory of Biosystems Dynamics (LBD) is seeking a Doctoral Researcher to tackle one of the most pressing challenges in global health — antibiotic resistance — using cutting-edge systems biology and single-cell approaches!
📌 What’s the Project About?
This project studies how the Gene Regulatory Network of Klebsiella pneumoniae — a major hospital-acquired pathogen — responds to antibiotics, focusing on:
✅ Network dynamics, mechanisms, sensitivity & specificity
✅ Single-cell variability & vulnerabilities
✅ How non-resistant bacteria increase antibiotic survivability
✅ Genome-wide & single-cell data analysis for realistic stochastic gene network models
The work combines theory and experiment across Bioinformatics (RNA-seq, biological databases), Computational Biology (stochastic & analytical models), Signal Processing (ML, image analysis), Biophysics & Microbiology.
International collaborations with teams in Finland, Sweden, USA, Canada, Portugal, UK & India!
👨🏫 Supervisor
Prof. Andre S. Ribeiro (tenured PI) — Laboratory of Biosystems Dynamics, Faculty of Medicine & Health Technology, Tampere University
