Hyderabad: A massive fire broke out late Sunday night (May 3) at a scrap and plastic waste yard in Bholakpur under Musheerabad, sending huge flames into the sky that were visible from nearly two kilometres away, creating panic among local residents.
Amjed Ullah Khan, Spokesman of Majlis Bachao Tehreek (MBT), immediately visited the affected area and met the victims whose homes and small businesses were completely destroyed in the devastating fire.
During his visit Mr. Khan met Ghousia Begum, a tenant whose entire house was gutted in the fire. She and her family escaped with their lives, running out with nothing but the clothes they were wearing.
He also met Pasha Bhai, whose sonтАЩs wedding is scheduled for May 17. Tragically, all household items and wedding materials were reduced to ashes.
Mr. Khan met Mrs. Fouqiya Khan, whose home and all belongings were completely destroyed.
It is estimated that around 20тАУ25 small shops belonging to poor daily earners were burnt down, leaving several families without livelihood or shelter.
Mr. Khan has strongly appealed to the HonтАЩble Chief Minister of Telangana, Anumula Revanth Reddy, to immediately provide тВ╣5 lakh compensation (ex-gratia) to each affected family whose homes or shops were destroyed, so they can rebuild their lives.
According to fire department officials, nine fire engines were rushed to the spot, and the blaze was eventually brought under control. Preliminary reports suggest that the fire may have been caused due to a short circuit.
Mr. Khan emphasized that the government must act swiftly to support these economically weaker families who have lost everything overnight.
