#PolicyAgora, a 13-week intensive, in-person programme.
Week 5 of the Policy Agora marks an exciting turning point - our fellows are now in the thick of things, as they begin work on their capstone projects.
Day 1 kicked off with a session by Samira Sarah Abraham, Economics Lead at Koan Advisory, who guided students through evidence-building and storytelling using data, with a special focus on survey design and data methods. Students also had the chance to interact with Avinash Pandey, Secretary General, IBDF, who led a discussion on the complex dynamics of self-regulation and co-regulation in India’s media and digital ecosystems.
Day 2 focused on the vital intersection of policy and communication - exploring the role of effective messaging and media strategy in policy advocacy and how ideas are translated into action. Students were then joined by
@ShipchandlerM, Vice President, Adfactors PR, who shared insights on strategic communications and crisis management, and the growing overlap between these functions and public policy. Later, Rajneil R Kamath, Founder and Director, NC Media Networks, spoke about his work to combat online disinformation and how newer forms of communication can be leveraged to weave policy constructs into compelling stories.
Day 3 featured a special interactive session with
@samirsaran, President, ORF, who took the students on a journey covering multiple relevant themes using engaging anecdotes - from discovering one’s policy interests to building a personal brand and dealing with challenges along the way. He spent time understanding each student’s aspirations and offered ideas on how they could build on them. Dr. Saran also introduced the ‘policy circle’ framework - illustrating how innovations, citizen rights, markets, and regulations intersect to shape effective policy design. He also gave each student a copy of his latest book - ‘GeoTechnoGraphy’. Day 3 also included a workshop on writing a policy brief, allowing students to apply research insights and sharpen their policy communication skills.
