Dear Minister Firoz Cachalia,
@SAPoliceService
I am writing as a concerned citizen regarding serious allegations that some members of the South African Police Service, particularly those involved in immigration-related operations,’s operations, may be engaging in unethical practices.
There are growing claims within communities that certain officers arrest undocumented foreign nationals, only to release them back into the country after payments ranging between R1500 and R5000.
If these allegations are true, they undermine the rule of law, damage public trust, and weaken efforts to manage immigration fairly and effectively.
Minister, many South Africans are asking what concrete steps your office is taking to investigate these claims, protect whistleblowers, and ensure that officers who abuse their positions are held accountable.
The public needs transparency, clear communication, and visible action to restore confidence in law enforcement.
We respect the difficult work done by many honest police officers daily, but misconduct by a few tarnishes the integrity of the entire service.
I urge you to prioritise independent investigations, strengthen internal oversight, and communicate openly with the public about progress in addressing corruption within immigration enforcement.
South Africans deserve a police service that operates with integrity, fairness, and accountability. I look forward to seeing decisive leadership on this matter.
Yours sincerely,
