As a Canadian, I noticed the poppy immediately. We, & the British people, wear them to honour our war veterans. On Nov. 11, we remove them & place them on our war memorials as a small token of gratitude for their enormous sacrifice. It is a sacred tradition. #inflandersfield

#InFlandersField Canadian surgeon Lt. Col. John D. McCrae composed "In Flanders Fields" on May 3, 1915, during the Second Battle of Ypres, Belgium. Our mom had to memorize the poem in school, and could still recite it many years later.
The boys proudly wear these poppies today on their helmets in honour of those who gave their lives to serve our country β€οΈ
