Book 3, Part 3
The CEO Who Listened 👂
When people talked about CEO Daniel, they never mentioned how smart he was, how much money he made, or how many awards he won.
Instead, they always said the same thing:
“He listens.”
One morning, a young employee nervously shared an idea that could improve the company’s product. Many leaders might have ignored it because she was new, but Daniel listened carefully. He asked questions, encouraged her, and gave her team the resources to test the idea.
Months later, that idea became one of the company’s biggest successes.
When things went well, Daniel gave credit to his team. When things went wrong, he took responsibility. He treated everyone with respect—from executives to interns and janitors. He made difficult decisions when necessary, but always with fairness and integrity.
His company grew, but more importantly, so did the people around him.
Years later, employees didn’t remember him as the richest CEO. They remembered him as the leader who believed in them before they believed in themselves.
The best traits of a leader are not power or authority, but humility, integrity, empathy, accountability, vision, and the ability to inspire others to become their best.
