🔴 Mufti Ahmad Qabalan calls for a change in the Lebanese government
- Lebanon’s Jaafari Mufti Sheikh Ahmad Qabalan, Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Islamic Shia Council in Lebanon Calls for Government Change, issued a strongly worded message to President Joseph Aoun, urging a major shift in the country’s political direction.
- He claims If President Aoun wants to govern successfully, he should withdraw from direct negotiations with Israel and establish a strong partnership with the “Shiite duo,” Hezbollah and Amal.
- Qabalan called for the current government to be replaced through a political process and for a new cabinet to include what he described as the country’s “real national forces.”
- He said the Lebanese state has a “historic debt” toward southern Lebanon, Beirut’s southern suburbs, and the Bekaa Valley, warning that any failure or negligence regarding reconstruction and compensation would be “unforgivable.”
